Description

I have this amazing 9 Pedal 5 knee lever GFI D-10 up for sale.

This instrument was autographed by the late Ralph Mooney. He was an early pedal steel pioneer and helped develop the Bakersfield sound of steel guitar playing.

This GFI was built around 2003. It has had three owners since then. This has been my primary instrument for teaching and performing since 2006. This GFI plays like a dream. I personally set this instrument up. And since I do professional setups and repairs on pedal steel guitars, you can be confident that this steel will play with ease. Each pedal (and lever) smoothly pulls each assigned string with little effort. This instrument is very easy to work on and customize. If you are interested in trying out different pedal arrangements, you will be able to make the changes very quickly with this instrument. The pickups are GFI-II’s. The tuning head is a keyless system, which adds the advantage of super fine tuning adjustments, as well as a smaller instrument width. The overall width of the instrument is 30.5”. The scale length is 24”. There is 5/16” between each string. The legs are adjustable.

The E9 neck is currently tuned with an “Emmons” Setup, with an X pedal (lowering strings 3 and 6 a half step) on the 0 Pedal (all the way at the left). The C6 neck is currently tuned to a custom tuning that allows me to play C6, A6 or E6 as well as a few other less common lap steel tunings. However, if you would like another tuning set up on the C6 neck, let me know and I can make the adjustments for a small extra charge. The changers on each neck allow for 3 raises and 2 lowers for each string. For a detailed view of the tuning I have on it, check out the copedent mixed in with the photos.

The steel comes with a nice hard case and a denim pedal and rod bag. The case has an extra lock latch which will allow to attach a master lock for greater security. See photos.

Aesthetically, the instrument is in pretty good shape, though it has some dings and scratches that have been touched up with a closely matched paint. The marks are hard to notice unless you get pretty close to the instrument. See photos.

As with all the steels I sell, I’ll pay for shipping within in the USA.

Having Ralph Mooney’s signature has really added a lot to this instrument and has made it difficult for me to part with, but I know you will appreciate this fine pedal steel as much as I have after all these years.

Happy to answer any of your questions!
